Memorial Day weekend

Isabella is getting ready to celebrate Pia’s birthday at home while John’s in Singapore chasing butterflies. This morning was a long overdue return trip to Alexandra Hospital and their butterfly garden, where some of his very first close-up butterfly photos were shot almost six years ago.

It’s Memorial Day weekend and as you can see our little household is spread out across the world – Moses is the only one taking care of Thornhill Drive… We just got an e-mail saying our furniture for the kitchen will arrive from Denmark Friday. That marks the very end of the kitchen remodel, and now there’s no excuse for eating dinner in front of the TV…

We met with the architect on Wednesday to look at the initial drawings for the family room. It looks like we’ll extend it 11 feet (~3,5 meters) into the garden to make sure there’s room for both a sitting area and a decent dining table. The outlook of having a family room that functional all year is very exciting, but there’s at least six weeks before we have drawings ready to take to the city office for approval.
