Back in the saddle (literally…)

Greetings from the news room. We’re back at work, back at school, and even Moses has to get used to changes – he’s suddenly spending all day in the garden. And while we’re on Moses: it’s almost like having a new dog but we ordered a “puppy cut” for him on Friday. Six hours later we picked up a dog pretty much half the size of how he looked that morning. He’s still looking for the majority of his hair, and he was a little shy at first. We think he’s come to like it given that we still experience temperatures in the 90s (35 celcius), and we certainly don’t miss the fur balls that were gathering every week less than 24 hours after Maria left.

The headline refers to yesterday – Isabella was at Spring Down Equestrian Center for 30 min. of riding Tess. We signed her up for 10 lessons this fall just to see if the horsie-craze has something to eh… ride on. Stopped on the local saddle shop on the way back to replace her winter boots with actual riding boots. She would have slept in them had she been allowed. John found her looking googling “horses for sale” this AM. She insists she found one offered at only $100. Doesn’t really change anything. No room in our lives for yet another four-legged friend at this time.

John went to Orientation Night at Saint Catherine on Thursday for a 20 min. briefing on the 2008/2009 curriculum. Lots to do for Isabella and her classmates. Still, she thrilled to be back with all the challenges and exciting things to learn. She’s in aftercare a couple of days every week. So far it’s not been a problem making the transition. Overall Isabella is in rare form and it filled with energy. She’s back on the church choir and has already had the first ice pack on her head in class after a hide’n’seek that apparently included a dumpster dive. Very determined kid…

Will keep it short and post a couple more updates later this prolonged weekend (Labor Day). Forgive us that the posts are a bit out of order. Finishing this blurb off saying that we hope Gustav decides to turn back out to sea and spare New Orleans for more poundings.
