Recital 2009

Hot weekend! Much too hot! The thermometer in the car showed 98 degrees (~37 Celcius) on the way to Isabella’s recital in Palo Alto. She played very well and was first up once the program got underway. All did well – including the proud parents sweating through it all.

Late lunch in Huddart Park afterwards. With her hands Isabella tried to see if China really was on the other side of the globe, but stopped the project once we decided to try to find a sunset at the coast. Much fog, so we returned to Thornhill Drive via Pescadero and Skyline Boulevard.

We started the day hiking from Ralston to Water Dog Lake. It’s been a while since we hiked that trail. It’s a nice and easy hike ending up in quiet place with water, fish, and shade. Tried to do the loop around the lake, but eventually had to give up as the trail seemed to come to an abrupt end. Blair Witch Project is not easily forgotten.

Most of Isabella’s classmates celebrated Holy First Communion on Saturday. Congrats to them for a job well done 🙂 Isabella was at rehearsal at the same time. She also managed to ride Rosie for an hour, and was a very proud rider after cantering both ways.

For John it was a pretty quiet week with some school yard duty, lunch with former Adobe employees, and job applications. Spoke to Apple and Plaxo but neither seemed like a great fit. Still, it’s good to know that his resume stirs interest. The latest unemployment numbers tells of 4.8 applicant for every job available. Yikes!
