Isabella had this school year’s last choir performance Sunday and was presented with a certificate for lending her voice once a month during the early service on Sundays. Olivia came with us to Point Reyes right after. It’s been too long and the weather made sure we could get there and back with almost no traffic. Seemed the sun had taken the day off, but the temperature was nice, and few rain drops didn’t make us think twice. The weather wasn’t as bad as the photo indicates. It’s three exposures combined into one which is what gives it its dramatic effect.
We were certain the whales were already having fun in Alaska, but as it turned out one gray whale had decided to hang around for the summer, and regularly showed us its tail and spouts.
Stopped for dinner at Thai Stick in San Francisco on our way home. We were given the very same table where we dined with Lyne on December 24, 2007 – the last time she came out with us. Plenty of memories and emotions sitting there, but most came with a smile on our faces remembering all the good things (instead).
Busy day yesterday. Isabella had check-ups at both dentist and doctor. No cavities – YAY! The class pet, a Supersaurus, had volunteered earlier in the day to come hold her hand, but didn’t have to spring into action until the syringes came out at the doctor’s. Isabella had her second Hepatitis A shot and as a precautionary action for the upcoming Africa trip, she had a tuberculous shot as well. We have to go back tomorrow to verify it’s OK. Everything else was great, and apart from the quick follow-up tomorrow she doesn’t need to come back until she’s ten.
Next we had an appointment we the good folks at Camp Erin. Isabella is joining their 2009 summer camp. In their own words Camp Erin is “a bereavement camp designed for children ages 6-17 who have experienced the death of a parent, friend or loved one.” Isabella is very excited to go and is bummed it’s not until August 10. Lots of activities with kids from around the Bay Area.
Short break next week – it doesn’t seem that there’s Internet access where we’re going. Scary thought 🙂
