We returned from Carmel last Sunday evening after a couple of fun days with Auntie Deb, Jay, and their three kids Jay Michel, Jack, and Stella. Beautiful weather and fun company. We ended up at the Carmel Valley-based Earthbound Farm once again to enjoy some pumpkin displays and sharp competition. Jay entered as our team captain to see who in the crowd could grab the most pumpkins in 30 seconds. He ended up with six big pumpkins – a steal for the $25 entry fee and a tie for first place!
Olivia’s brother Chris, his wife Kara and their daughter Chloe were visiting from Santa Barbara when we returned and we had dinner with them Monday evening at Benihana. Chloe came by the studio for a couple of snapshots and 10 minutes of Yo Gabba Gabba. She did very well and was a pleasure to have as a model.
Olivia and Isabella spooked up the house this week in preparation for Halloween. Ghosts, eye balls and spiders everywhere. We all went costume shopping on Monday but only Pia and Isabella found something they liked. Pia is re-thinking her choice, but Isabella is quite happy with her being a… sorry, we can’t spoil the surprise.
Unrelated Isabella lost yet another tooth this week. That’s close to four in four weeks. The recent x-rays at the dentist did show six teeth ready to move up, but we never expected it would happen that fast and the tooth fairy is running out of cash fast! Two more teeth to go. And while we’re in the mouth news section: Adriana went cold turkey this week and slept w/o her beloved binky all night. So far she’s doing very well w/o it and we should be able to send the stash of binkies up in the sky soon.
Isabella and John went to the Danish consulate in San Francisco on Tuesday to get Isabella a new Danish passport. She’s enjoying dual-citizenship up until she’s 21 – those are the current rules. The Danish government isn’t that crazy about that kind of liberty and John is therefore not able to enjoy the same benefits. Hopefully that will change some day. Isabella was quite impressed with the pictures of the Danish Queen and the Prince hanging on the wall at the consulate. Lots of medals on the Prince she said. There’s a great Danish word for that – sildesalat – that really doesn’t translate well.
It’s been a year since Isabella went to the first Horses and Healing day in Woodside. She spent yesterday in the program and made a beautifully decorated horseshoe in and with Lyne’s name. The group consisted of kids who have lost one or both parents and is mostly a place for them to meet kids in similar situations. It’s up to them whether or not they want to talk or just spend the day in the company of four-legged friends. Isabella got to show off some her riding skills. All-in-all she had a great day following a sleepover at Angie – one of her class buddies.
There are another couple of updates we can’t really talk that much about just yet but we do have a sale pending at Thornhill Drive and we even have a backup offer. It also looks like there are news for John on the job front, but again we should probably wait another week or two. Until then…
