Back in school

Isabella started in 3rd grade on Friday although she hardly made it to the school before it was all over. Monday was only half day, so today – Tuesday – was the first full day. She’s excited to be back and is so far enjoying new teachers, four new classmates and that they this year is allowed in the part of the school yard reserved for the cool kids.

We went to Great America last Monday with Phoebe (Camp Erin). Good fun for six hours – some captured on the little digital camera John brought:

John finished his PADI Open Water certification with a two-day dive in Monterey Bay. Not the most pleasant of places purely because of the underwater visibility (~10 feet/3 meters) although Sunday was much better. It’s hard to tell if you’re going up, down, or is just floating in the middle when you can’t see anything. Apart from a single hick-up Saturday afternoon trying to clear the mask underwater, all went smooth. Ran the exercise again and passed. What couldn’t be seen underwater was at the surface and it was rather cool floating with a seal and a sea otter slowly passing us just 10 feet away.

There’s lots of activity on the job front. Seems all the parents are back at work. Much is in the early stages but it’s good for the morale and self-esteem to have people respond. There was also activity in the studio, so things are slowly picking up it seems.
