I’m writing this from Washington DC. Had to leave the girls one day early in order to make it back Monday.
We had a fantastic day yesterday with breakfast/brunch at Le Pain Quotidien. Walked through the Tuileries and ended up in the Parisian wheel overlooking much of the city. Bits of a thrill ride, since the gondolas were open and could dangle around. But the views were spectacular.
Walked up Champs-Élysées, found the soundtrack from a recent DVD rental “Avenue Montaigne†and crawled up on top of Arc de Triomphe. Magali went home to nap while we had tea at Laduree followed by a stroll towards the Eiffel Tower. Long line to get up, so we passed and instead jumped on a boat and floated down the Seine until we got off at Notre Dame.
Walked back to the hotel via Jardin du Luxembourg. The batteries in the camera were unfortunately drained, so we couldn’t capture the beautiful evening colors hitting the flowers, grass, and kids with little boats in the ponds.
We had dinner at “Aux Trois Canattes”. Small Italian restaurant in the streets behind where Lyne used to live. Funny waiter that kept puling practical jokes on us until we left close to midnight. The streets were full with rugby fans watching the world cup.
Isabella and Lyne will arrive tomorrow evening around 11PM. Hope Izzy have slept a bit – otherwise it’ll be tough starting school at 8:00AM the next morning.
