We left Bali yesterday afternoon and landed in Bangkok last night. We finished on a high note with a trip to the Bali Safari & Marine Park, sightseeing at the Uluwatu temple and horseback riding. This after doing something between nothing and very little for the last few days.
The Safari and Marine park brought hugs by a tiger cub and a camel ride. They had a good amount of animals there. Most of them well-cared for. We skipped the Marine part after several people had told us it wasn’t worth the time spent.

Uluwatu was an interesting experience. Just after arriving there, we were approached by a women asking if she could help us keeping the monkeys at bay. We reluctantly said yes thinking it was a money scam, but she really did help us with the aggressive monkeys and also found a couple of good photography spots. She held Isabella’s hand while walking on the steep cliffside, and it was well worth the money we gave her after the sun had gone down. The monkeys brought back a memory of Lyne screaming from the top of her lungs as they went for the bananas she was carrying. Much to the laughter of everybody but Lyne 🙂
Yesterday morning started early trying to get parts of the chlorine out of Isabella’s hair. After a thorough hair wash and breakfast, we jumped in a cab to find one of the only stables on Bali. Isabella was in seventh heaven and got a fairly big horse for a couple of hours. She went with a guide through the rice fields and forest, and impressed the trainer. John wrote post cards and got through the final pile of magazines. The trainer had nothing but praise for Isabella and excused that she had not gotten the best horse they had. “Next time”, he promised.

We’re off to the tailors in a minute. The last sports jacket they made at James Fashion lasted ten years despite weekly wear. Hopefully they can repeat the craft work and do so before we’re leaving Sunday at midnight. After that Isabella’s spotted a snake farm used by the Red Cross for anti-venom. We’re going to see the snakes getting milked. Oh the joy.
