It’s Sunday morning out here and we’re getting ready to go see the reclining Buddha. Maybe we can also find a boat to take us up and down the river. Other than that it’s about trying to squeeze everything – including Isabella’s tailor-made dresses – into the suitcases before we check-out at the end of the day. We have a fairly short flight to Seoul leaving at midnight, and then a seven-hour layover before we fly directly to San Francisco. We’ll be toast with the short night and long wait, but no flights had better connections. Besides, we got an extra full day in Bangkok.
As you can see from the picture below, we managed to find the snake farm. It was very interesting and one of the highlights of the tour. Isabella (of course) volunteered to get a phyton around her neck. The farm is run by Red Cross Thailand so the uniform you can see in the background is not a precautionary thing 😉 We got many nice close-up photos of the reptiles, but we’ll spare those of you who are more comfortable around cuddly puppies and the like.

Speaking of puppies: the weekend market was just as big a maze as we remembered it. An unbelievable amount of nick-nacks, food, furniture, and live animals. Saw several mini-Moses’, and just about any other breed of dog. Very cute and Isabella’s already decided she’s coming back to pick up a puppy, when she moves out.
Grabbed a tuk-tuk back to the hotel. Had to go through the usual “You like shirt? You like gold?” spiel. The drivers are all on commission from a variety of shops, and they’ll do much – including just taking you to the shop w/o asking – to get you to agree to visiting a tailor or jewelry shop. Anyway, he could see that we were all set and didn’t bug us again. The tuk-tuks and the exposure to the air around here made us appreciate the carbon filters in our car’s air intake.

John’s unfortunately managed to get a sore throat, so we’re drinking tea. Too bad – there’s finally a Starbucks within walking distance.
