The rain is still here. Very much so. Bit the bullet and washed the car on Saturday although the weather forecast showed rain for another week. But as it turned out it was well worth the time… (see below)
A few weeks back a pesky M&M (round peanut kind) made its way under the passenger seat. Despite it’s psychedelic color, state-of-the-art LED flash lights, and several Cirque-du-Soleil worthy attempts to find it, the culprit kept hiding itself. The noise from it rolling around when accelerating or braking continued though, and it was slowly driving everyone nuts (no pun intended). Friday we took the car to Land Rover. Twenty minutes later and after driving around with service managers and technicians, they too had to give up. Verdict: the seat had to come out, which they were willing to do for a mere $680. Tough call but we just couldn’t live with the noise, and we scheduled the big operation for Monday morning. It’s probably too late to make a long story short, but the vacuum at the before-mentioned car wash sucked the peanut right out from the heating vent, and today’s call to cancel the appointment was a pretty good call 🙂
The weekend also brought a visit to Town Hall in San Francisco and Pres a Vi. Good food both places and great company. For the second time in the past few months the waitress didn’t think we had tipped enough and added a bit more herself before submitting to American Express. Another sign of the times, we guess. Still, it would have been better to take the discussion at the table. Maybe she just couldn’t read the handwriting…
Wednesday VMware pulled the plug and after four interviews, they decided to move ahead with a different candidate. Not totally unexpected after six-to-seven weeks of “indecisions”, but still a bummer. There are some new stuff in the pipeline, but it’s too early to say if it’s going anywhere. The economy certainly isn’t!
Had meetings with a couple of contractors and the architect last week. Trying to cut cost here and there so the family room can get done. Should have some updated numbers this week and then it’ll be a definitive “yes” or “no”. Isabella’s room is done except for a reading lamp. We added a Bookwork bookshelf from Kartell this weekend. It is currently inhabited by 20+ plush animals. There’s a sign-up sheet on the wall for anybody that wants to live there. No kidding!
