This past week brought a visit from Chris – a former ScanView colleague who now resides in Amsterdam. We initially wanted to check out the Ashley-Haight district, but the weather was… well, it was better to stay indoors. So off to the California Academy of Sciences together with what seemed like the rest of the Peninsula. Almost gave up finding a place for the car, but the underground parking came to our rescue just when we were about to look at other stuff to do. The days on the bicycle in Copenhagen is a great memory when parking is hard to find.
Anyway, we visited the Steinhart Aquarium with all its 38,000 live animals from around the world. Paid a visit to the African Hall afterwards to look at the penguins and chameleons. Other animals there but they were stuffed. Long and late lunch at the Beach Chale. All that remained was to pick up eggs for Isabella’s Easter project at school.
Saturday Isabella painted pottery at Laurel Street Arts – we’re picking it up later this week. She performed with her choir on Sunday at church and is looking forward to 2nd grade hosting Sunday’s mass.
Friday John had a visit from Hasselblad to show him their amazing cameras. Many of his colleagues from ScanView (1994-2000) are there working on the digital editions. The quality is nothing short of spectacular if you can handle the 150Mb file sizes and the price that could buy you a fairly new BMW. Isabella was once again a fabulous model, and a very patient one. One of the images were later picked for a show in San Francisco, so everybody got a chance to see her wearing a mask straight from Venice.
Things are still happening on the job front, but it’s a slow process. John had an interview on Wednesday. Was sent home with a big homework assignment that was returned later that same day. So far no word on the grade…
