Spring Break in Hawaii

>Just back from Hawaii. Six days with great weather and views to last at least until mid-summer… John and Isabella arrived a couple of hours ahead of the rest in time to pick up the car, get a few groceries and run back up to the airport. After a good nights sleep the girls spend time on the local beach while John caught up with work. Quiet afternoon while Olivia and Bella found a new child seat for the little ones.

Saturday started at Waimanalo beach. John tried to find Giovanni’s Shrimp Truck but got stuck in traffic and returned back to beach with lunch. We had dinner at the Outrigger Club with Richard, Margaret – permanent residents of Oahu. Made it through dinner just fine and had not forgotten to leave room for the signature S’mores dessert.

Sunday came around and it turned out the Easter Bunny had made it all the way to Hawaii. Lots of little gifts and eggs for the girls and even some for the adults. The girls took off to the country club as it was the last day it was open before they started a larger pool renovation project. We hung around the apartment for a little bit in the afternoon but decided to hike up to the Manoa falls. Adriana impressed us all by hiking up and down on her own. Good job!

We took the tour around the island on Monday. First stop was Lale Point where we spend quite some time finding little treasures for the girls to bring home. Stopped at the shrimp truck afterwards and both Ella and Pia wrote their names on the side of the truck. Didn’t have much luck with the turtles at Vaimea Bay but we did see them swim in the water. The highlight of the day turned out to the the world’s largest maze at Dole Pineapple Farm. Of the three groups we formed Bella and Adriana won by three minutes. We relaxed with pineapple ice cream afterwards and the girls all had bracelets made with their Hawaiian names. Adriana and John snug out while the bracelets were finished and Adriana got her first semi-permanent tattoo with the trademark of the relaxed Hawaiian culture.

The days passed much too quick and we found ourselves on a red-eye flight back to San Francisco late Tuesday for a Wednesday a.m. arrival. We’re all looking forward to going back and feel very lucky we have the opportunity to stay there!
