Today 3,800 people finished their 39.3 miles (63.5 km) walk for breast cancer. Two days in and around San Francisco with the common goal of raising money for breast cancer treatments and research. It’s hard for us to understand, but these amazing people managed to raise seven million dollars! Jeannine – our neighbor – and her team The Urban Dog Walkers raised more than a million dollars on their own. Very, very impressive.
Having experienced firsthand what breast cancer patients and their families go through, we were utterly humbled by the attendance, the energy, the power, and the fight to make breast cancer a thing of the past. At the same time it was very visible just how many lives are touched by this awful decease, and it was quite emotional to stand close to finish line and see the “we made it” reaction of survivors, current patients, their friends, but also people just made of the right stuff who will help in any way they can.
Thank you(!) to Jeannine, Alicia, their families and their teams for helping to make sure that a cure will be found, and until that happens that everybody unfortunate enough to be diagnosed with breast cancer will get their best shot of a successful treatment.
