Rock climbing

Isabella is turning eight tomorrow. We started the festivities yesterday with ten girls taking over Planet Granite in Belmont. They almost ran out of steam after two hours of climbing up and rushing down, and Isabella’s been talking about sore arms and muscles this afternoon. But they had fun and there were no injuries! Isabella made it to the top a couple of times as the pictures in the gallery shows – the gallery can be viewed here.

Afterwards we all headed to the local pizza joint for well deserved Getorade and cheese pizza. The candles we had bought for the cake were nowhere to be found, so we improvised and lit eight matches instead 🙂 Good fun. Pia came home with us to assist with the unwrapping and note taking, and we were all impressed with what Isabella had gotten as present from her friends.

Isabella ended the evening in a bath tub with Pia. Both were so exhausted that they giggled the whole time and ended up being more dirty post-bath because the whipped cream and the hot chocolate ended up in the tub as well.

We picked up 36 cup cakes this afternoon for handout tomorrow at school. We’ll celebrate her once more tomorrow evening at a sushi place.

The elephant seals mentioned a week or two ago were too many to get real close to. John’s gotten much better picture at previous trips. But a wild coyote made up for it all, and it was kind enough to check the group out long enough to get a decent shot. Not sight of a road runner.
