Isabella celebrated her eighth birthday and all went well. Cupcakes were a big hit, and the stream of presents continued late into the week. Isabella wrote Thank You cards yesterday. No school for her and her classmates (President’s Day). Afterwards we went to a couple of book and clothing stores to make good use of the gift certificates. There are four new books about horses in Isabella’s room.
Fairly quiet weekend. Went to San Francisco a total of three times – once to pick up a new plant for the bedroom, once to have dinner with former Adobe colleagues, and Friday night to kick start Valentine’s.
The rain’s been coming down in buckets and it’s a good reminder that a drain next to the family room would do wonders. Two of the four contractors have come back with quotes and both are way outside what we had originally budgeted and what makes sense.
No news on the job front. John’s still in the run for a position in Palo Alto. They’ll supposedly make a decision this week. Meanwhile the camera is working. The beautiful blue heron below was captured digitally at Filoli the day after they opened their doors for the 2009 season.
